Never have I been so utterly floored by the wit and brilliance of dialogue and physical comedy as I was Opening Night of “Fallen Angels”. Noël Coward outdoes himself with the truly insatiable “Fallen Angels”. With a cast that is beyond brilliant, charming, hysterically funny, truly refined, and utterly flawless, one is hard pressed to do anything but be endeared from the very moment the performance begins.

With a set that transports you to the late 20′s, early 1930′s in London, the tale of two women’s pasts unraveling, a longing for a moment in their lives where they felt sexy and alive because of a wonderful affair with the sexy Maurice, they reminisce while accepting being in marriages that have lost their passion. Julia played by Pamela Gray and Jane played by Kate MacNichol take you on a comical journey of two women conflicted. As they begin nipping at a glass of bubbles, they get progressively more intoxicated and go through the emotions any woman is familiar with: humor, sadness, crisis of conscience, the bond of friendship, the need to feel sexy and wanted, worry, and everything in between. This play was great fun! Saunders, they housekeeper played by Mary-Pat Green adds the most wonderful presence to this well written play with her blatant injection of opinion, her continual “advice”, and her uncanny way of doing precisely what she pleases. Each character has a purpose, and while the husband’s played by Loren Lester and Mike Ryan were absolutely delightful, it is the women that stole this show!

You will laugh until your side aches and while the ending was a tad bit abrupt, the play unfolds in the most wonderful way! Oozing with wit and charm, I encourage you to purchase tickets to experience Noël Coward’s brilliance while it is on stage at the Pasadena Playhouse. The Playhouse is among my favorites and it is a theatre that is worthy of all of your support.

The CAST will be on A Taste of Dawn RADIO as well, so stay tuned!
