TOURS OF THE PLAYHOUSE
Aside from
what happens on stage, some of the most fun and interesting parts of
the Pasadena Playhouse are those that our patrons rarely, if ever,
get to see. Before you enjoy one of our productions, Playhouse
artists and craftsmen have been at work for months, fine-tuning
performances and adding the painstaking details that bring
theatrical artifice magically to life.

Complimentary
backstage tours allow you to get a close look at scenery under
construction, the theatre’s beautiful Green Room and recently
restored Craftsman-style library, as well as a final peek at the
Carrie Hamilton Theatre before its upcoming renovation by Frank
Gehry next year. You’ll hear about the Playhouse’s role as
Hollywood’s “Talent Factory,” how its founders dreamed up some of
the most significant innovations in 20th century dramatic art, and
maybe even meet Gilmor, the mischievous but well-meaning ghost of
the Pasadena Playhouse.
Tours are free and can be scheduled by appointment at nearly any
time. For more information, call or email Penn Genthner at (626)
737-2865 or
pgenthner@pasadenaplayhouse.org.
